What's New in Body Waxing
It seems as if April just flew by!
Here we are on the cusp of summer, and that means waxing, waxing and
more waxing.
This year both Shala Dveirin and I attended the
International Esthetics, Cosmetics and Spa Conference in Las Vegas, NV,
to see what was new in BODY WAXING and here's what we discovered:
#1 Greenepil: We confirmed with a Cirepil distributor, that their new Greenepil is
indeed experiencing 'heat issues.' Since the product debuted last fall,
I myself have had trouble regulating the temperature of the product: even when turned down low the client always complains that the wax feel
hot.
My recommendation: use either Cirepil Blue or their new
Cristalline until the problem is solved.
By the way, CIREPIL'S
CRISTALLINE wax is great for eyebrows, upper lip, cheeks and other areas
where the hair can be fine and hard to grab.
#2 Waxing tabs: We
visited a small table where a company was selling small plastic tabs to
be used with hard wax. The idea is that the tab is integrated into the
edge of the wax, making the traditional "flick" release unnecessary. I
have two alternate suggestions: Hard-Wax-Helper, or Spread-on-Strip.
#3 New to US: Shala liked the large waxing pot by Nacach Wax, a company from
Argentina. Their wax, which comes in blocks, spreads on and releases in
a fashion similar to Cirepil Blue, and is about 20% less expensive.
Let's see if they can get a foothold in the US market.
#4 Mica Tattoos: While at the show both Shala and I had mica tattoos applied. The mica
has an interesting 'flat' quality to it that gives beauty professionals
another option besides the skin-safe glitter tattoos. Cool! Order
a GAA "Bling Kit" before June 15, 2010, and receive a container of
black mica powder at no additional charge. |

How Well Do You Understand Sunscreen?
In preparation for summer, clients are beginning to come for leg, arm and bikini wax appointments.
As skin-care professionals it is important that we teach our clients how to better protect themselves against the harmful effects sun exposure.

New classes coming fall 2010!
The esthetics professionals at Grace Albert Aesthetics are hard at work developing two new classes to be offered beginning fall 2010: " Advanced Extraction Techniques," and " Micro-Dermabrasion Done Right." We are developing these classes in direct response to the hundreds of GAA class surveys collected in 2009. To make sure that we give you the type of training that really helps you to satisfy your clients' needs, we will be asking you for additional input over the next 30 days. We are currently putting the finishing touches on an on-line "Extraction Survey" that we will ask you to fill out and return to us in the coming weeks. The survey will be posted on our Facebook page, as well as the June edition of this newsletter. We thank you in advance for your participation, and look forward to seeing you in class soon.

Facial Fillers Can Change Waxing Landscape
Q: What is the required amount of time to wait before performing facial waxing services after a filler appointment? How about Botox? A: The standard is 72-hours minimum, and longer if any bruising and/or swelling is visible. Click here to read more about how gum chewing can affect fillers.
