In with the New!
The first month of a brand new year (and a new decade) is the perfect time to set both personal and professional goals.
I love those desk calendars that provide you with a new word to learn and use each day of the year, the calendar reminds me that life is not a race but a journey.
I am a perpetual student and truly enjoy learning new things and surrounding myself with people who challenge me to always be at my personal best. I guess that's why I enjoy my position as president of Grace Albert Aesthetics so much, a leadership role that allows me to inspire other beauty professionals to move forward and embrace challenges with gusto.
Along with learning a new skill another popular New Year's resolution is to lose weight, and Grace Albert Aesthetics is not immune to the need to trim some fat. Beginning January 2010 we will be slimming down each class to just 4 hours of intense learning, and shaved a couple of pounds off the class prices too. Now there's no excuse for you not to attend a class and learn a new skill, or sharpen the skill-set you already possess.
So challenge yourself to be a better person, and a better-trained working professional in 2010. We look forward to seeing, and inspiring, you in class soon!

Our New "Manscaping" Class is Finally Here! Ask any esthetician who has both male and female clients and you will learn that although women make up the lion's share of their business, men make wonderfully loyal skin care and waxing clients. As more and more men toss aside their razor in favor of body waxing you will need to be prepared to handle this new demand. Our new " Manscaping: Brows to Brazilians" in Los Angeles, California, on Monday, January 18th: Las Vegas, Phoenix and Denver will also offer the class beginning in February. This fun, fast-paced class will begin with several hours of theory, will include our original Male Brazilian Diagrams, and will wrap up with an up-close and personal Male Brazilian demo performed on a live model. Class will be limited to 10 students (6 students in our Los Angles location) in order to offer a quality learning experience for everyone involved. Grace Albert Aesthetics has established a system for helping interested clients find you. All GAA students are eligible to be listed on our Expert Locator system for a small annual fee. Areas of expertise include: Eyebrow Design, Female Brazilian Waxing and now Male Brazilian Waxing. Listings are exclusive to both Grace Albert Aesthetics and past Adriel International students. Your first listing is $50 per year, and additional subject listings are only $25 each. We receive hundreds of inquiries per year from interested persons looking for "qualified" beauty professionals in their communities, and we would love to help them find you. Please note: ALL listings currently on the system are due for renewal: persons who do not renew their listing by January 31, 2010, will be eliminated from the system beginning February 15, 2010. Q: Do you ever teach students to use soft wax for bikini waxing services in your classes, and if not how come?
A: We at Grace Albert do talk about and demonstrate soft wax for "standard" bikini waxing - the areas just outside the panty-line on the sides and along the top, but even those areas are easily handled using hard wax.
I personally prefer hard wax for the bikini area for both men and women, and for almost all other areas of the body. In fact I can foresee a change in my own personal practice as I begin to use hard wax for more and more services. In general I find hard-wax easier to control than soft wax, more comfortable for clients, and just as efficient and effective for use in most all facial and body waxing services.
